Quote of the Moment

This is what the past is for! Every experience God gives us, every person He puts in our lives is the perfect preparation for the future that only He can see." Corrie ten Boom, The Hiding Place

International Food & Wine Festival

Today we went to the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT (we also went with some friends last Thursday). We went last year too, but I must say that I enjoyed it so much more this year. Last year I was 8 weeks pregnant and pretty much everything made me sick!

Here are the foods we tried this year:

-Spicy Beef Enpanada from Santiago, Chile
-Chilquiles and Quesadilla con Chorizo from Mexico City, Mexio
-Beef Goulash with Bacon Dumpling and Tefelspitz from Vienna, Austria
-Chicken Sha Cha and Pork Pot Stickers from Shanghai, China
-Durban Spiced Chicken with Coconut Milk-infused Root Vegatables from Cape Town, South Africa
-Spaetzle with Creamy Mushroom Ragout and Regensburger Sausage with Sauerkraut in a Pretzel Roll from Munich, Germany
-Pizza with Sausage, Baked Ziti, Cream Puff with Mascarpone and Gianduja Chocolate from Bologna, Italy (Here we are in "Italy")

-Escargot Persillade en Brioche and Milk Chocolate Creme Brulee from Lyon, France
-Cheddar Cheese Soup from Montreal, Canada
-Spanakopita from Athens, Greece

Each item is about 2-3 bites so David so we would share one and it gave us lots of opportunity to try different things. The most adventurous item was the Escargot....I had a hard time swallowing because I looked at the snail and it still had horns! But really it didn't tast bad. Our favorite food was from Mexico.

Samuel seemed to have a nice time. It was pretty warm, but we slathered him in sunscreen so I'm really hoping he will have no sunburn! We took him on two rides (Imagination with Figment and Finding Nemo) and we also went to Turtle Talk with Crush. He enjoyed Turtle Talk, but didn't like the rides so much. Here is a picture of us in Imagination!

David's Pug-Shot

Six Months!

Samuel is 6 months old today! I can hardly believe how quickly the time is going. He is growing so fast. Yesterday we took him to his 6 month check-up. He is 18.5 lbs and 26 inches tall. So in six months he has gained 14 lbs and grown 8 inches.

The doctor plotted his growth on the 6 month chart and he is 85th percentile for weight! For his corrected age he is in the 95th percentile. He is a very solid baby.

We took a little video of him enjoying bathtime. He gave us a few coos and smiles so I thought I would share it. (Okay, I couldn't get it to upload, so I will work on that and get it posted soon!)

In the video you can see his belly pretty well. The stoma on closest to the middle is the mucus fistula - that just gets covered with a piece of cotton. The one on the right side is the ostomy and that is what has the bag on it. You can see the scar on his belly too. It is pretty long, but it looks pretty good - at least, it is just a thin little line.

Also thought I would post a couple more comparison pictures for you.

This one was taken on the day he came home from the hospital

He was swimming in the outfit when we brought him home. But, look at him in that same outfit 2 months later!

Now that little outfit does even fit him! Perhaps the overalls will still work, but the white shirt is an absolute no! It is exciting to watch him grow and I am so glad he is doing so well.
